The Ardèche region is one of the most diverse geological areas in France with a convergence of many different rock types over a relatively small area.
The Northern Ardèche Mountains are mainly volcanic in nature and the climbing is diverse with awe inspiring scenery. The climbing has much more friction than the limestone of the south and the possibilities for traditional climbing with good protection are within easy reach of our base near Burzet.
The Southern Ardèche and Ardèche Gorges are predominantly limestone with bolted protection. If you are looking for areas ranging in technique and style, from steep short routes to longer more forgiving stances the Southern Ardèche has it all on offer.
